NOT WORRYING ABOUT WHAT OTHERS THINK

Close your eyes… Enjoy how it feels to have them closed… Resting… Nothing to see… Nothing to absorb… Completely relaxed… Sight is a crucial sense for most people in their day to day life but right at this moment it serves no purpose… A person can easily be without sight at this time and be completely comfortable and at ease because they know should they need it, it will be there…

Often when not using one sense, the other senses are heightened. The sense of smell may now be heightened. It may now be noticing the pleasant smell in the room that wasn’t noticed before. Noticing this scent will simply only cause you to relax more… There’s nothing else for the sense of smell to notice, nothing else to absorb…

Another sense, touch, may also now be heightened. It may notice the points at which each part of the body rests on the chair. Cushioned and comfortable against the soft support of the chair. It may also notice the comforting weight of the blanket on top. Noticing this touch will simply only cause you to relax more… There’s nothing else for the sense of touch to notice, nothing else for it to do…

Finally, the sense of hearing may be more sensitive than usual. It may be hearing noises outside of this room. Cars, planes, or other mechanical noises. Voices, conversations, or laughter. Noticing these will simply only cause you to relax more… All it needs to hear right now is my voice. And even then, it does not have to listen, because that will simply only cause you to relax even more… It is so peaceful when the senses do not need to do anything. They just need to rest… They are not needed right now, but they are there should they be needed. But right at this moment, they are not needed. As you relax more and more… So peaceful… So relaxed…

I want you to imagine you are in a beautiful tropical jungle. In this jungle you are surrounded by lush green plants. Colourful flowers blooming from almost every branch of every tree. Sunshine just peeking through the canopy creating stunning streaks of light down to the ground. Soft and warm sand beneath your feet. The sound of a soft waterfall in the distance. You hear the call of birds. All of these sounds and sights create an atmosphere of relaxation and comfort. You are completely at ease and completely peaceful. As you look around you notice a butterfly. High up and perched on the leaf of a tree. The butterfly has the most wonderful colours and patterns you have ever seen on its wings. You cannot take your eyes off it and continue to watch as its wings begin to flutter and lifts it slowly from the leaf. You continue to watch as it seems to float down from the treetops. 5… floating down… 4… softly and slowly…. 3… further and further down… 2… 1… the butterfly lands so softly on the ground in front of you…

 It draws you closer and as you step forward it flutters away. You continue to follow it as its beauty beckons you. It disappears behind the foliage in front of you. So you reach forward and part the leaves. Behind them you find a stunning oasis. A small sandy beach leading to a tropical pool filled with crystal clear water. You see the waterfall that you heard earlier gently cascading into the pool of water. As you step through the foliage you see the butterfly once again flutter in front of you and then softly land on a rock next to the water’s edge. You watch as very slowly the butterfly begins to change, morphing slowly into a human shape. As you observe, the shape becomes more and more familiar until you stand facing a child… It is you as a little girl… As you move closer she begins to smile. You can’t help but smile too. The feeling of familiarity and comfort you find in each other brings such a feeling of peace.

She reminds you that you at your heart you are a wonderful, loving, carefree, and joyous person. Just as she is… No matter what has happened and will happen, nothing and no one can change that. You are confident, courageous, and strong. Just as she is… She reminds you that what others think and feel is up to them and none of your concern. They are responsible for their thoughts and feelings, just as you are responsible for your own thoughts and feelings. Be proud of what you have achieved, and what you will achieve. Stay true to yourself and you will continue to feel wonderful, loving, carefree and joyous. Stay true to yourself and your confidence, courage, and strength will only grow. Thank the little girl for this message. And now if you have anything you would like to tell her do so now. Let me know when you are finished by saying the word finished…….
 Now give her a big hug and enjoy the feeling of peace and love that you both share. As you step back she morphs back into the butterfly and begins to flutter away. As you watch you are filled with such wonderful, loving, carefree, and joyous feelings. You know you have all the confidence, courage, and strength you need to live the life you wish to live. You continue to watch as the butterfly flutters up and up, with a lightness and ease, floating up into the sky to continue her journey just as you will continue your journey with lightness and ease.

In a moment I’m going to count from one to ten. As I reach ten you will be awake, alert, and ready to continue the day radiating peace, love, joy, courage, and confidence….(insert any other relevant post hypnotic suggestions)…

1… conscious feeling returning to the feet… 2… travelling up the legs…. 3… feeling returning to the hands… 4… travelling up the arms… 5 heart rate and breath returning to a normal healthy level for you… 6… 7… becoming aware of the sounds in the room… 8… eyes wanting to open… 9… 10… fully alert and awake and back in the room.
