Make yourself comfortable, take a deep breath in… then out… and then another in… then out… When you’re ready, allow your eyes to close… make sure you’re comfortable… Imagine yourself floating on a soft cloud… soft as can be… notice how the cloud feels… notice how it feels to have your head resting on it… nice and relaxed… notice how the cloud feels wrapped around your shoulders… and your back now… all the way down… the cloud is calming you… now notice how the cloud makes your arms and hands feel heavy … and relaxed… now your hips and thighs… heavier and more relaxed… the cloud is wrapped around you… and your calves and feet, wrapped around and feeling relaxed… as you go down into deep relaxation… (pause) 

Now imagine the cloud is gently dropping in altitude… gently and safely… and as it does… you feel more relaxed… and deeper than before… each gentle, slow, drop of the cloud… makes you more relaxed than before… and again… twice as relaxed… then one more drop in altitude… twice as relaxed again… and then you can see a small cloud in the distance… shaped like the number 5… indicating that your mind… is now vibrating at 5 Hertz… 5 cycles per second… so deeply relaxed… (pause)

Now… you are on the ground… and you become aware of a big, white marble surface in front of you… you are now standing on this surface… it’s beautiful and pristine… and so calming and peaceful…

In front of you… you notice some beautiful lights, carved into alabaster columns… the columns are only a metre high each… all looking the same… and spaced out a few metres apart… in a perfect line… You know that the line is not endless… but it seems to be…

 Right in front of you… though… is a small flagpole. It is about three metres high… On it is a beautiful flag… with a perpendicular metal rod on the top of the pole… so that you can see the whole flag… fully displayed.

On this flag is a design of some sort… a design that is specific to your life right now… For now, remember what is on the flag… but look away, back towards the row of lights… on their alabaster columns… (pause) 

Just like in a dream… imagine yourself floating up above the white marble surface… looking down at the line of lights on their columns… and your flagpole with the flag on it… (pause)

You now realise that these lights represent important moments in your life… moments where something happened that affected you… or changed the course of your life… A light indicates a good or bad event… or decision you made to do something… or be something… or to interact with someone in your life in a meaningful way. 

To your left on the line of lights is your past… to the right is your future. The flag, and the image on it, represents your present. As you float above this scene… you will know that there is a light to your left… in the past… that represents an event or decision of importance to you, as it is affecting your present. Go to that light now… (pause) 

Now that you are at this light…move down to the surface level. As you do, you will find the scene changing… to that event or decision of importance… You are going to re-experience that event again now, but from a position of detachment and safety… (pause) 

Watch the scene for a few moments… (longer pause)

 Now… notice how your current self is able to join in…with your past, younger self… offering your wisdom and experience that the younger you might not have had. Feel the merging of your strength with this younger version of you. Notice how you deal with this scene in a much better way… maybe the events change… or your feelings do… Just notice that it’s better… (pause) 

Step back out of this scene now… enjoying the improved result… and feeling better about it all. Now let’s float back up above… and move back to your flagpole… (pause) 

When you reach the flagpole, have a look at the flag now… and notice any changes… (pause)

Now let’s imagine a future event… where something similar occurs to what happened in the past. Feel the memory of that prior event, where things were better… See what is happening in the future… and how your choices are better, your feelings are better, and the results are better… take a moment to visualise this now… (longer pause) 

Things have gone really well for you… and now you feel confident that they always will when something like this occurs again… (pause) 

Now… taking this newfound knowledge and wisdom with you… you are going to return to the present time and place… where you started. Return now… noticing the flag on the flagpole one last time… and seeing if it has changed… or not… and return to your cloud… to be taken back to the current time…

On the count of ten you will return… one… two… feeling aware of your body once more… three… four… moving hands, fingers, feet and toes… five… six… blood pressure, heart rate and breathing returning to a level that is normal and healthy for you… seven… eight… feeling more aware of the room again…. Nine… getting ready to open your eyes and… ten… open your eyes! 

(pause)
